Have you made out a will?

It is never too early to begin making out your will, yet few Bahamians do. Many think that it should be done, if at all, in old age. Bahamians rarely think about making a will and many believe that it should be left until they are old or at death’s door. “Why, I only have one child and you only make out a will if you have something,” said the father of a toddler when asked if he had a will or had thought about one. He plans to put one together “eventually,” and says he doesn’t know if his wife has one either. “Women outlive men anyway, so everything will go to her,” he supposed. But noted Attorney Constance McDonald warns against happenstance and illustrates the process is fairly easy and very necessary. She advises that one considers making a will whenever they have any assets and or children. In fact, you need only be 18 years or older, of sound mind and ensure that the person you are leaving a gift to in the will is not a witness to your will. More : freeport.nassauguardian.net |
