Boyack brings ‘fresh views’

It’s easy to think of Merrilee Boyack, the newest City Council member, as a superwoman of sorts. She’s the mother of four sons 14 to 23. In addition to her council duties, she holds down five paying jobs, as an estate-planning lawyer, spokeswoman for the Boy Scouts, author, professional life coach and public speaker. Boyack also finds the time to exercise every day, see her mother who lives nearby every other day and go on a date with her husband, Steven, every Friday. On Tuesdays, she arrives a few minutes early to the council meeting to greet residents, usually holding a stack of staff reports covered with Post-it notes.
